Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • To work effectively and efficiently within the framework of team nursing and individualised patient care.
  • In collaboration with the ward integrated multidisciplinary team to develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients.
  • To contribute towards developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment.
  • To take charge of the Ward as appropriate to the area in the absence of the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse or their deputies on a shift basis and to supervise junior registered nurses and Health care assistants.
  • Ensure effective communication between staff, patients, visitors and outside agencies.
  • Work collaboratively as required to ensure effective and efficient provision of health care services.
  • Educate patients and their carer(s) as required where a need has been identified.
  • Participate in annual staff appraisal, staff development and in-service training activities in line with the Knowledge and Skills Framework.
