Job summary

A community hospice is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to provide outstanding palliative care in a nurturing setting. You will work closely with patients and families, delivering high-quality support for life-limiting illnesses. The ideal candidate has 2+ years of nursing experience, a compassionate manner, and effective communication skills. This role offers a flexible schedule of 15 hours per week.

Job description

Hours: 15 hours per week and will be workedflexibly Monday to Friday. Working 9:00am to 5:00pm, with half hour unpaidbreak.

Salary: £13,907.40pa (FTE £34,710pa)increasing to £14,391pa (FTE £35,977.50pa) on successful completion ofprobation period.

We are looking for a Staff Nurse who wants to spendmore time with their patients, who thrives within a supportivemulti-disciplinary team and is excited to learn and develop their own skills.

Main duties of the job

As a Staff Nurse in the Day Hospice, you will:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care and support to patients withlife-limiting illnesses during day visits.
  • Work closely with patients, families, and the widermultidisciplinary team to ensure holistic, tailored care.
  • Support patients with symptom management, emotional wellbeing, andsocial connection in a warm and welcoming setting.
  • Participate in care planning and regular reviews, ensuring dignityand quality of life are at the forefront of all care delivered.

Job responsibilities

About you:

We are looking for someone with

  • You need to have a least 2 years experiences as a qualified Nurse.
  • NMC Level 1 or 2 and recent experience of nursing patients with palliative care needs or oncology would be essential as is the experience of caring for families and patients facing the challenge of terminal illness.
  • As a Staff Nurses you will need to have excellent communication skills to enable you to discuss difficult end of life issues and to confidently liaise with other healthcare professionals at all levels.
  • A compassionate manner and a responsible, mature attitude are also essential.

  • Demonstrate skills in IT systems and use of word, excel and PowerPoint. Relevant post registration experience, in cancer, palliative care or the speciality.
