Overview

We are inviting applications for permanent posts for experienced staff nurses to join hospital-based Winter Response Teams for up to 6 months, with potential transition in Spring 2026 into a post aligned to your preferred area of nursing practice, hospital and ward location including the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity for experienced staff nurses who are looking to further develop their skills and experience. It’s also a great opportunity if you are a currently UK NMC registered staff nurse looking to return to the NHS or working as a staff but would like to work in a different clinical specialty.

Responsibilities / What you will do
  • Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's Winter Response Teams to support additional medical/discharge wards.
  • Demonstrate excellent clinical skills, good critical reasoning, adaptability, and a positive attitude. Work independently and as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to patient management and discharge planning and participate in the transition to a post aligned to your preferred area of nursing practice.
Requirements
  • Live Nursing and Midwifery Registration from the NMC within the UK.
  • Newly Qualified Nurses (including internationally educated nurses awaiting UK NMC registration) will not be considered for these roles.
  • We have opportunities across Full time and Part-time working patterns.
Locations / Details

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is increasing our Adult Nursing workforce capacity to support additional medical/discharge wards opening at Gartnavel General Hospital and Inverclyde Royal Hospital. Opportunities exist across hospital locations including Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
