Job description

Our unit is looking for a highly motivated registered Nurse to join the team. We are a 12 chair, 2 bedded day unit providing a number of complex nurse led treatments and procedures in an outpatient setting. We strive to provide, specialised, excellent, holistic care and treatment to the local population. We are therefore seeking an individual who is passionate, focused, works well as part of a team, strives for positive change, and has an interest in Oncology, and Haematology SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy).

This role requires a specific skill set which will mostly be provided at ward level however, further education in the field of Haematology and Oncology will be required in order to widen the successful applicants knowledge and understanding when delivering SACT.

You will be working alongside other experienced band 5, 6 and 7 nurses, Health care support workers, ward coordinator, doctors, Oncologist, Manufacturing and dispensary pharmacists and reception staff.

It is a great time to join our team as we are currently planning to expand our Oncology service to treat more patients locally.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing high quality, effective, individualised care to patients by participating in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care and treatment plans.

The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and competence in administration of IV additives. Certificate in cannulation, venous sampling, PICC line access and re-dress, administration of blood products and administration of SACT is desirable. However, all necessary training and support will be given.
