Job description

You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of a Learning Disability Medium Secure Unit and will assist the Team Leader in maintaining effective team working processes.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain effective team working processes and assist the Team Leader.
  • Exercise initiative, make mature judgments, remain calm, friendly, and efficient when dealing with patients, relatives, colleagues, and visitors.
  • Work independently, applying confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, manage competing demands and organise work so deadlines are met for smooth ward operation.
  • Keep accurate and complete records and communication consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
  • De‑escalate verbal aggression from disturbed service users.
  • Use a flexible and responsive approach to care.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurses (RNMH/RNLD/RMN) or equivalent.
  • Completion of management training.
  • Teaching/training experience.
  • Experience in care planning.
  • Organisational skills and ability to work within a management structure.
  • Communication skills (written, verbal, non-verbal).
  • IT skills – MS Word.
  • Appropriate UK professional registration.

  • Provision of effective clinical supervision.
  • Leadership and motivational skills.
  • Ability to chair meetings effectively.
