Job description
About the Role

Uber Direct is our fast growing new business line that focuses on last-mile delivery across all verticals - Online Food Delivery, Grocery, Retail, Ecommerce - empowering merchants to deliver orders generated on their own channels (outside of Uber’s marketplaces) with the most convenient experience. Direct is rapidly growing the ways in which Uber connects the world. Our goal is to set the momentum that will transform Direct into a sizable part of our business by EOY'26. Uber Direct continues its path to be our next multi-billion dollar business.

We are looking for an S&P Associate for Direct in EMEA who has a broad understanding of the business end-to-end and serves as a thought partner to EMEA Direct leadership, while reporting to the Global head of S&P for Direct. The S&P associate must feel confident working with data and conducting advanced analysis to understand the business trajectory and challenges, and to break down complex topics into clear insights and actionables that are reported globally.

This role will work cross-functionally with teams across the company, and take the lead on consistently building the narrative of the Direct business across Uber, as well as reporting to leadership teams on the status of the business (both tactically and strategically). The role will also be responsible for proposing and analyzing strategies and business plans based on the company and different teams’ goals and support the decision-making process by supervising the internal and external environment and acting on specific demands.

What the Candidate Will Do
  • Strategic Ownership: Own the reporting cadence, narrative and materials for Direct in EMEA (MBRs, QBRs, Newsletters, etc.), support specific Direct analyses and actively lead and participate in annual strategic planning
  • Project/Program Management and Stakeholder Management: Help to bring teams together to ensure critical initiatives in EMEA reach the relevant teams. Be a hustling multi-tasker, driving cross-functional groups to discussions and decisions on strategically important questions
  • Governance: Develop and coordinate governance and accountability models to ensure that teams are on track to achieve goals and course accurate as needed, including actively tracking OKRs at a global and regional level and ensuring data integrity for it
  • Critical thinking: Be a thought and unbiased partner to the Direct EMEAleadership team to help them craft the strategy (linking it to Global priorities) and to steer in the right direction, fostering alignment and driving informed decision-making.
  • Advanced deep dives: Lead robust deep-dive analysis and provide recommendations on complex topics that are broad in nature (e.g. Profitability for the region, Hyperbatching incubation, new product feature economics)
  • Problem Solving & Business Sense: Structure and tackle ambiguous, real-world problems, using Uber’s rich dataset and external data sources and compile findings transforming them into deliverables that local teams can implement
Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years of professional work experience in strategy consulting, banking, engineering or similar industries, using data to drive business decisions
  • Excellent Analytics and Problem-solving Skills: True owner mentality and passion about solving zero-to-one challenges and standing up new products & revenue streams from scratch.
  • Intermediate/Advanced SQL - Build complex tables & queries. Minimum 3 years of experience using SQL for data analysis in a professional environment
  • Business Understanding: Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution. Experience getting in the weeds of data, balanced with the ability to see the big picture
Preferred Qualifications
  • Communication Skills: Ability to interpret and present data to various audiences in an engaging and comprehensive, yet succinct manner
  • Teamwork: The nature of the team implies constant collaboration and interaction with cross-functional teams (Operations, Finance, Product, Marketing, Public Affairs, Legal, Tax, etc.) to ensure we are bringing all available tools to bear on our toughest problems
  • Adaptability: Ability to work and efficiently accomplish multiple tasks in parallel, and deliver results in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment, while maintaining high-quality work standards
  • Experience working in highly collaborative, matrixed work environments
