PE Teacher – Secondary School

Location: Waltham Forest
Start Date: January – July

Do you have a degree in Sports Science and a Level 3 qualification, along with a passion for inspiring young people? We are looking for a dedicated and energetic PE Teacher to join a secondary school in Waltham Forest, helping students build confidence, resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for physical activity.

About the Role

You will be teaching PE across KS3 and KS4, delivering a balance of practical lessons and theory-based sessions that make sport and wellbeing engaging for all students. The PE department is well-resourced, supportive, and committed to creating a positive environment for both staff and learners.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering PE lessons to a range of abilities
  • Delivering practical activities that promote teamwork, fitness, and skill development
  • Supporting students with GCSE PE theory where required
  • Preparing equipment, managing resources, and ensuring smooth lesson delivery
  • Creating an inclusive, encouraging environment for all students
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the wider PE department
What We’re Looking For
  • A degree in Sports Science or a related field
  • Level 3 qualification in sport, fitness, or coaching
  • Strong understanding of physical education and youth development
  • Confident classroom presence and strong communication skills
  • Experience working with young people (in schools, coaching, mentoring, or youth sport)
  • A positive, proactive approach and the ability to build rapport quickly

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred, but experienced sports coaches with school-based experience and a willingness to train will also be considered.
