Spinal Injury Support Worker - Night Shifts

Location: Cardiff

Salary: £17.50 per hour on weeknight shifts, £17.25 per hour Saturdays, £18 per hour Sundays.
Shifts: 8pm-8am, 7 days per week. Full time/part time hours available. We also have sleeping night shifts available (8pm-8am) seven days per week, plus day shifts (8am-8pm) seven days per week.

Job Type: Zero-hour contract

Overview

We are offering an opportunity for an experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Worker to join our client in Cardiff, working on a 2:1 ratio. One Support Worker will work a waking night shift, with a second team member on a sleeping night shift. We are seeking support workers who are confident, empathetic, and capable of building a strong, trusting relationship to support independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
  • Catheter care & bowel management
  • Respiratory management (cough assist/suctioning)
  • Autonomic dysreflexia management
  • Preparing meals and supporting with nutrition
  • Administering medication (training provided)
  • Providing emotional support and companionship
  • Supporting mobility and physical activities
  • Light housekeeping duties
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in a similar role, supporting clients with spinal injuries, catheter care and bowel management
  • A caring and compassionate nature
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A valid UK driving licence (essential to drive the WAV during shifts)
