Job description
Overview

We require a 0.9WTE SLT with post graduate experience in adult neurosciences to work on the stroke in-patient ward and Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit at NHNN to cover maternity leave for 11 months from mid January 2026. The predominant caseload will be stroke and patients will have a range of acute, chronic and progressive speech, language and swallowing disorders. You will join a team of SLTs which has a well-established system for formal / informal support and clinical / professional supervision. The SLT service has a very high profile within the multidisciplinary range of services provided. The post offers exceptional opportunities to use adult neuro clinical skills and contribute to the research and teaching programmes within this highly specialised patient population. Responsibilities
  • Manage and prioritise a defined SLT caseload within NHNN in stroke and NRU. They will be supported by Band 6 and Band 7 speech and language therapists and work together with the rest of the Stroke and NRU MDT. The SLT works closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues across UCLH Trust.
  • Demonstrate evidence-based practice within adult neurology and stroke rehabilitation, and apply sound clinical reasoning and decision-making in assessing and treating communication and swallowing disorders due to stroke and other acquired and progressive neurological conditions.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and teaching skills, and effective teamwork within a specialised service area.

  • 0.9WTE Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with post-graduate experience in adult neurosciences.
  • Ability to work on the stroke in-patient ward and Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit; capable of contributing to research and teaching programmes.
  • Strong evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning, and decision-making skills in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders due to stroke and other neurological conditions.
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and teamwork abilities.
