Job description
Overview

The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive service to a defined geographical area in mid and North West Shropshire. They will work autonomously visiting patients in both care homes and patients' own homes and providing input to the local ICS teams in and around Oswestry.

Responsibilities
  • Visit patients in care homes and patients' own homes within the mid and North West Shropshire area; provide input to the local ICS teams in and around Oswestry.
  • Travel with access to a vehicle; area covered is extensive and rural. Pool cars are available for visits as needed.
  • Maintain postgraduate-level dysphagia skills as this forms a large proportion of the caseload; provide a broad range of communication therapy.
  • Participate in regular Video fluoroscopy clinics and a developing FEES clinic; attend clinics with patients referred from your caseload to support management and learning.
  • Work across Shropshire to support 4 community hospitals and The Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, including their specialist spinal unit; provide a service across the ICS teams county-wide.
  • Collaborate with clinical leads in Spinal Injury, AAC, Dysfluency, Voice and Dysphagia.
  • Liaise with the team in a hard-working but friendly and supportive environment; be flexible and resilient to changing needs of a fast-paced caseload and service environment.
  • Engage in regular clinical and management supervision, professional meetings and CPD sessions throughout the year.
Team and Local Context

The community SLT team at SATH currently consists of 9 Speech and Language Therapists and two Assistant Practitioners.
