Job description

We have an exciting new opportunity to welcome a clinical pharmacist to our innovative and progressive Hampshire Hospitals Pharmacy team to support the surgical directorate, which includes the new Integrated Care System collaboration in the Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre (HOC). This is a unique role in which you can develop your specialist skillset and advance your clinical skills.

As a specialist Pharmacist, you will spend time in a patient‑facing role working within surgical services and the HOC to support the clinical service. You will gain experience and training to enhance your advanced clinical and non‑clinical skills. The Trust has a strong multidisciplinary approach with extended roles for non‑medical staff. The successful candidate will receive support from the HOC and Pharmacy teams, opportunities to develop and embed their careers, and to make a difference to patients’ lives.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development and delivery of the Clinical Pharmacy Service provided to surgical services, including the Hampshire Orthopaedic Centre, with responsibility for staff management in line with pharmacy objectives set by the Associate Director of Pharmacy, Deputy Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Pharmacy Manager and line manager.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Pharmacist for Surgery to ensure the provision of an effective and efficient service for all patients of the services.
  • Work at a specialist level providing a medicines optimisation service to the surgical division, focusing on the HOC, as part of the multidisciplinary and clinical pharmacy teams.
  • Act as an independent non‑medical prescriber, in accordance with the Health & Social Care Act 2001, specialising in an area of choice relevant to the surgical division.
  • Manage staff to ensure the effective operation of the services provided to the speciality on behalf of the Lead Surgical Pharmacist.
  • Share joint responsibility with other specialist and clinical pharmacists within the clinical team for the overall delivery of the clinical pharmacy service to surgical services and orthopaedics under the supervision of the Lead Surgical Pharmacist.
