Salary up to £29,733 depending on experience

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Sous Chef, also known as a Catering Sous Chef or Second Chef, to join a busy private school kitchen. This role offers a stable routine with straight shifts and alternate weekends off, ideal for someone wanting to step away from late nights while continuing to grow their skills. You will produce high-quality, modern British cuisine and occasionally travel between two nearby sites as part of the rota.

What You Will Do
  • Support the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations as a Sous Chef
  • Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes consistently
  • Assist in planning balanced, seasonal menus
  • Ensure all food meets dietary and allergen requirements
  • Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff during service
  • Manage stock, reduce waste, and assist with ordering
  • Travel between two private school sites as required
Who We Are Looking For
  • Experienced Sous Chef, Catering Sous Chef, or Second Chef confident in a busy, high-volume kitchen
  • Strong cooking skills with an organised approach to service
  • Team-minded and able to guide and support junior staff
  • Knowledgeable in food safety, hygiene, and kitchen standards
