Job Description
Business for Nature is seeking a creative, strategic, experienced and hands-on freelance social media specialist to work alongside the communications team as a copywriter, visual designer and strategic partner for our social media channels, especially LinkedIn.
We’re looking for someone to help us tell our stories on social, navigating the “ambition loop” where business action drives policy ambition and vice-versa for nature.
Role objectives
- Boost our advocacy impact: We aim to create real change that drives business action for nature through government policy and ambitious advocacy from our corporate partners – our socials are where we can speak to them directly.
- Ensure we remain a credible voice: position Business for Nature as a trusted, evidence-based leader on the business-nature agenda.
- Insert Business for Nature in the right conversations: ensure participation and visibility in high-level global policy and business dialogues.
- Engage our audience: grow a community of advocates and supporters who actively share and interact with our content.
- Build awareness, reach and understanding of Business for Nature and our work among target audiences, including policymakers and senior business leaders (CEO, CSO).
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day delivery of our social media strategy, mainly usingLinkedIn.
- Write compelling copy that aligns with our values: Conversational yet professional, concise and jargon-free, bold and ambitious. Must be able to make complex policy topics simple and engaging in plain and simple American English and appeal to a broad political spectrum.
- Take the lead on designing new assets: We want to elevate our visual identity. Nature is exciting and beautiful, but we need to balance that with the professionalism our audience expects. This year, Business for Nature is undergoing a brand refresh, so you’ll be taking the lead on bringing our new brand to life through professional, visual assets and templates for content series. This might include carousels, quote card graphics, infographics, dynamic / animated text-based content and short-form video (like this example), which can be adapted by the comms team as needed.
- Strategic implementation: Link content to our organisational priorities to influence business leaders and policymakers, including repurposing reports and website content, campaign coverage, thought leadership and sharing policy wins and publications.
- Community management: Proactively engage with our 33K+ LinkedIn audience, 100+ partners and 1,500+ signatory companies, ensuring Business for Nature is at the center of the right conversations.
- Report on content performance: Assist with light reporting through Hootsuite and KPI tracking to refine our approach and maximise reach.
- Scheduling and posting/cross-posting: Manage post scheduling in Hootsuite, ensuring all posts adhere to our strict branding and formatting standards.
Role Requirements
- Experience creating content for LinkedIn to engage a business or government audience.
- Ability to make complex topics engaging and clear: You’re able to find the compelling story in technical, policy and sustainability topics to bring copy to life while adding a touch of light-heartedness where it makes sense
- Mastery of tone: ability to write in a conversational, inclusive, and professional voice that avoids “faceless” jargon.
- Design excellence: advanced understanding of Canva and social design principles using the BfN brand guidelines.
- Stylistic rigour: Work within the BfN style guide, including the use of American English
- Technical proficiency: Strong grasp of Analytics, capable of managing light reporting and data tracking.
- Organisation and professionalism: Maintaining clear timelines and structured workflows, communicating proactively and meeting deadlines consistently. You uphold high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
Nice to have, but not essential:
- Experience in corporate or advocacy spaces: demonstrated experience creating engaging, strategic social media content for a professional audience.
- Paid Ads experience
- Video content creation skills
