Job description

Small Animal Vet - Sussex/Kent Border

Full or substantial part time, Maternity Cover from end of February 2026 for 12 months

Supportive and experienced team, no on-call.

This position would suit someone with experience who values working in an independent general practice, focused above all on client and patient care. We're looking for excellent communication skills, clinical ability and an enthusiasm to learn, and for someone who can work as part of our great team.

Our successful, 12‑vet, independent practice is based in three well‑equipped surgeries: our hospital in Tunbridge Wells (which provides 24‑hour care for our patients), and stand‑alone surgeries in Crowborough and Wadhurst. All of our surgeries have general and dental x‑ray, modern ultrasound machines, operating facilities, multi‑parameter monitors, up to date labs and separate dog and cat wards. Our vet team is has a good mix of experience and clinical interests, and includes certificate holders (medicine, ophthalmology, imaging, surgery) and people studying for certificates (medicine x 2!). We have a large team of experienced vet nurses who thrive on being given freedom to nurse as well as efficient and lovely support staff. Our practice has been around for nearly 80 years and we have fantastic clients. We are in a very beautiful area and well connected to London and the south coast.

Our current full time rota involves a 4 day week, with 1 Saturday in 6 (generally finishing early or mid afternoon) and no Sundays.
