The Cancer Nursing Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Band 7 Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Team Lead to join our team. In this pivotal role, you’ll provide expert care and leadership within the skin cancer service, helping to shape high-quality, patient-centred care across the Trust. Based at York Hospital, the role also requires the flexibility to travel as part of your responsibilities. The role requires a registered nurse who can work autonomously within their scope of practice and of the job description and support the team to deliver safe effective care to our patients. Furthermore, the appointee must be equipped with excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse multi-disciplinary group of clinicians, patients, and allied healthcare providers. You must be self-motivated, enthusiastic, organised, computer literate and able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to continued personal development.

Responsibilities
  • Work within a high-quality specialist service to meet the needs of patients with skin cancer and contribute to the continual development of patient pathways for assessment, implementation and management of care for this patient group.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and information resources for multidisciplinary staff, colleagues, patients and families; support the physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual needs of patients with a diagnosis of skin cancer.
  • Assess educational needs of staff and develop, deliver programmes of education to multidisciplinary team members.
  • Inform service development needs and initiate and implement service development and delivery; act as a key link within the Cancer Alliance to enhance communication and continuity of care between the cancer unit and the centre.
  • Based at York Hospital with ability to travel as required to fulfil duties.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Registered nurse with the ability to work autonomously within scope of practice and job description.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a diverse multidisciplinary team.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, organised, computer literate and committed to personal development.
  • Experience in cancer care and skin cancer services is preferred.
