Job summary

Job description

Our client, based in Grantham, is looking to recruit a Skilled Operative on a permanent basis. This role is being advertised by an agency on behalf of their client and offers stable, long‑term employment within a hands‑on engineering environment. The position is full time, working Monday to Thursday from 7:30am to 4:30pm, with an early finish at 12:30pm on Fridays.

The Role

This is a practical, hands‑on role, similar in nature to laser cutting operations, working with steel plate and engineering machinery.

The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast‑paced, production‑focused environment and take pride in producing high‑quality components to specification.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and selecting the correct programmes on machinery for the required work
  • Operating machinery used for burning/cutting steel plate (similar to laser cutting processes)
  • Deburring all products by hand once burnt out, using appropriate hand tools
  • Stacking finished products onto pallets safely and correctly
  • Working accurately to works orders and job instructions
  • Maintaining a clean and organised work area at all times
  • Working closely with the supervisor to identify and monitor stock levels of plate material
  • Following all health and safety procedures and company standards
Requirements
  • Previous experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or fabrication environment
  • Ability to carry out manual, physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Basic understanding of machinery programmes or willingness to learn
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
