Protocol Education is assisting a secondary school in Redcar to recruit a dedicated and reliable Site Supervisor.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to take responsibility for the security, maintenance, and smooth running of the school site. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the school is a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, parents, and visitors.

About the Role:
  • Ensure the school buildings and grounds are secure, tidy, and well maintained

  • Open and close the premises, including gates and buildings, ensuring site safety for all users

  • Carry out regular cleaning duties, including windows, communal areas, and external grounds

  • Manage rubbish collection, disposal, and recycling, keeping all areas free of hazards

  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance, and report larger issues to the Facilities Manager

  • Undertake grounds maintenance, including sweeping paths, removing weeds, disinfecting bins, and keeping outdoor areas hazard-free

  • Support school lettings by preparing and securing facilities as required

  • Ensure fire escape routes are kept clear and assist with fire marshal duties during emergencies

  • Oversee heating, lighting, and water systems, including switching off equipment and maintaining safe boiler room conditions

  • Assist with deliveries, porterage, and setting up halls and rooms for school functions

  • Maintain accurate site records, including a site diary

Role Details:

  • Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

  • Previous experience in site management, caretaking, or a similar role

  • Strong practical skills in maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs

  • Understanding of health and safety requirements and the ability to identify hazards

  • Reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with staff, students, contractors, and visitors

  • Commitment to safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of students

  • Ability to adapt to the changing needs of the school and undertake additional reasonable duties

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
