Job description

This is a progression role to a band 4 on completion of all core competencies and simulation apprenticeship. The purpose of this role is to support the Simulation lecturers and be responsible for technical aspects of any simulation training courses that take place in situ within University Hospitals Tees (UHT).

The post holder will co‑ordinate the use and maintenance of all simulation training equipment within the Trust, act as a professional resource for all members of the hospital team and be a key resource for simulation training.

  • Maintain an asset register of all simulation equipment.
  • Maintain high standards of simulation training through audit and act on any issues identified.
  • Work with training faculty across the Trust and regionally to provide simulation training that supports improvements in patient care.
  • Professional registration with The Science Council or equivalent is required if not already obtained.
  • Manage and prioritise own workload and maintain accurate records.
  • Analyse and interpret a range of clinical and technical information.
  • Ensure the simulation suite provides a supportive environment.
  • Facilitate training programmes in the preparation, set‑up of simulation equipment, the room, computer programming of simulation scenarios and the use of high‑tech audio‑visual equipment (SMOTS) both in the simulation suite and in clinical areas.
  • Assist simulation faculty in running scenarios by operating the software control programme and using evaluation as a guide to develop simulation training.

It is the policy of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust and require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered must pay the cost for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is via salary deduction from the first month’s pay on commencement with the Trust. The DBS check will be undertaken during the pre‑employment check screening.
