Overview

Astute's Power team is exclusively partnering with a large thermal power station O&M company to recruit an Operations Technician for its South Wales site.


The Shift Operations Technician role comes with a salary of £50,000 - £54,000 + excellent benefits and a clear development path.

Responsibilities and duties


  • Assist in routine testing of the plant and equipment

  • Adhere to the H&S process of the plant, reporting any unsafe conditions and hazards to the Shift Supervisor

  • Assist with training personnel in roles required

  • Monitor the plant via DCS and its process to ensure that the operation aligns with all relevant operating procedures

  • Take part in pre-start checks following maintenance work or an outage



Professional qualifications


  • Ideally have a Level 3 (C&G / NVQ) minimum qualification in a relevant engineering discipline

  • Ideally have a formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH



Personal skills


  • Prior background within a Power Production site, this could be CCGT, Coal, Biomass, Energy from Waste, CHP etc

  • A solid understanding of health & safety in an engineering environment

  • Able to demonstrate excellent written & verbal communication skills
