Service Transition Manager vacancy in Hybrid - Corsham/Remote (296lw)

Ex-Mil Recruitment are supporting a major Defence programme in sourcing an experienced Service Transition Manager, with significant ITIL experience, to lead the movement of a new multi-domain communications capability from development into fully operational service.

This is a high-impact role within a secure Defence environment, ensuring the seamless introduction of new services and technologies with minimal disruption to end users.

This role requires current SC status, and the successful candidate must be eligible for DV.

The contract is for an initial 3 months, but is highly likely to be extended until March 2027. A hybrid role – 2-3 days on site in Corsham.

You’ll be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering the complete service transition lifecycle—working closely with project teams, service owners, technical leads, and support personnel to ensure operational readiness is fully achieved. Your work will ensure that new services are accredited, tested, deployed, and accepted into live service in a structured and controlled manner. The ideal candidate will bring strong ITIL experience, Defence delivery background, and confidence working across multiple security domains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the overall service transition plan across multiple technical teams
  • Lead change management activities to minimise service disruption
  • Ensure full operational readiness through acceptance testing, documentation, and performance validation
  • Define and implement service transition, release, and acceptance processes
  • Assess risk, performance, and service impact prior to release
  • Act as the bridge between programme teams, service owners, and support units
  • Provide clear communication and coordination across stakeholders
Essential Skills & Experience
  • ITIL v3 or ITIL 4 qualified
  • Experience delivering projects in UK Government or Defence environments
  • Ability to tailor transition and change management processes to suit complex programmes
  • Strong stakeholder management across technical and operational teams
  • Knowledge of Army communication systems or wider Defence communications environments
