Job description

An exciting new opportunity has arisen working for a Birmingham-based insurer as a Commercial Insurance Senior Trading Underwriter.

They offer a different perspective on commercial insurance, designing their processes around brokers' needs while delivering financial security and stability to policyholders.

As a Senior Trading Underwriter, your main focus will be on retaining profitable commercial risks within your allocated accounts and working closely with your intermediary panel. It is essential to have the right attitude and a proactive approach, targeting account retention and maximising all business opportunities. Although primarily an internal role, regular broker visits will be required to discuss key accounts or those under attack from third-party brokers.

Initially, you will manage an existing book of business, with potential to focus on new business submissions in the future.

Key aspects of this role include being technically competent with experience and knowledge in property, casualty, and commercial combined risks. Experience with contractors would be advantageous. The ability to trade effectively with brokers, think creatively, and ensure each case is retained and renewed with mutual satisfaction is crucial.

Applicants should have previous underwriting experience, ideally with a minimum of 4 to 5 years in commercial underwriting. Studying towards ACII is advantageous, and the company supports this development.

This company invests in its workforce, supporting career progression and development.

Excellent salary, bonus, pension, and additional staff benefits are offered for this role.
