Senior Town Planner – Location: Worthing – Salary: £40,000 - £50,000

An award-winning multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced planner to join its expanding team. The practice brings together planning, architecture and urban design, delivering thoughtful, sustainable solutions across a wide range of public and private sector projects.

The Opportunity

This role offers the chance to play a pivotal part within a dynamic planning team, working across the full project lifecycle from early feasibility through to delivery. You will manage your own portfolio of work while also contributing to larger, design-led developments alongside architects and urban designers.

The position provides regular exposure to clients, consultants and local authorities, with clear opportunities to build leadership capability and commercial awareness in a collaborative and supportive studio environment.

Key Duties
  • Managing planning applications, appeals and related approvals from inception to determination
  • Undertaking planning research and policy analysis, offering clear and robust professional advice
  • Producing high-quality planning statements, appraisals, appeal submissions and consultation material
  • Coordinating inputs from internal and external project teams
  • Liaising with planning officers, statutory consultees and other stakeholders
  • Supporting public engagement and consultation exercises
  • Assisting with client liaison, fee proposals, marketing and business development activity
  • Contributing to team mentoring, knowledge sharing and professional development
Skills and Experience Required
  • A degree (or equivalent) in town planning or a related discipline
  • MRTPI membership, or eligibility to achieve full chartered status
  • At least five years' post-qualification experience within the planning profession
  • Strong written, analytical and presentation skills
  • Experience working on large-scale and/or complex development proposals
  • A proactive, flexible and team-oriented mindset
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
