Job description
Senior Substance Misuse Nurse

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Millsike, a Category C, resettlement prison located in Full Sutton. The role offers on‑site parking, gym, staff canteen and training and progression opportunities.

Hours

37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30. No weekends or nights.

Salary

Annual salary up to £49,175 (FTE), dependent on experience.

Candidate Requirements

You must have legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, prioritising patient care and developing individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
  • Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both group and one‑to‑one settings, with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans, and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers and providing advice and information to individuals on a 1‑to‑1 basis.
  • Support group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions; occasionally support dispensing.
  • Maintain an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person‑centred approach.
