Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Staff Engineer to join the UK Logistics Engineering team of an Oil producing and Refining Company. The role is ideally based in Milford Haven, but Avonmouth or Cardiff terminals may also be considered.

The engineer will provide support for the Logistics Pipeline & Terminal business across the UK & Ireland, reporting directly to the Logistics Engineering Manager. Responsibilities include managing routine inspection programs for pipelines and above-ground storage tanks, developing repair strategies for defects, and reviewing re-inspection periods using RBI systems.

The role involves system design reviews to ensure compliance with national legislation, industry codes, and guidelines. It also includes managing maintenance and capital projects related to fuel storage in the UK & Ireland.

Key Duties:
  • Develop and maintain inspection programs for logistics terminals and pipelines, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate and communicate changes to the integrity programs to relevant personnel.
  • Act as SME and represent the company in dealings with industry regulators.
  • Conduct technical assessments related to defects and operational changes.
  • Lead the development of defect acceptance criteria and repair procedures for pipelines and tanks.
  • Develop risk management programs using RBI techniques.
  • Support design, installation, and startup of capital projects.
  • Track costs and report on project statuses.
  • Supervise personnel and engineering firms as needed.
  • Assist and guide other engineers.
  • Adhere to safety rules to minimize risks to safety, environment, and company liability.
  • Review equipment and system designs for compliance with industry standards.
  • Update standards and procedures based on legislation changes.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • BEng Hons or relevant engineering degree.
  • Professional registration such as IMechE Chartered Engineer.
  • At least 8 years of engineering experience in terminal/refinery environments.
  • Qualified to API 570 & API 653 inspection codes and EEMUA 159 Tank Assessor.
  • Proficient with ASME piping and welding codes.
  • Experience overseeing system repairs, upgrades, and compliance reviews.
  • Knowledge of risk-based inspection for above-ground storage tanks.
  • Familiarity with ILI inspection tools and data management.
  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills for working with various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with asset management systems like SAP, PCMS (desirable).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Experience in project management from design to commissioning.
  • Willingness to travel.
