A prominent NHS healthcare provider in the City of Westminster seeks an experienced Band 7 Dietitian to lead an award-winning hepatology service. This role involves dietary assessment and intervention for advanced liver disease patients, with opportunities for research collaboration. An opportunity has arisen for an ambitious band 7 Dietitian to take leadership of an award-winning hepatology service at the Royal London Hospital.
This internationally recognised service has demonstrated the vital role of specialist dietetic involvement in managing patients with advanced liver disease. The service has shown improvements in recompensation rates, suitability for TIPSS and transplant, as well as reductions in paracentesis requirements and A&E admissions. The Trust has recognised the importance of dietetics within Hepatology through dedicated funding.
This role offers research opportunities through links with Queen Mary University of London. The successful candidate will be responsible for dietetic assessment and intervention for all patients with advanced liver disease across inpatient and outpatient settings, including day case paracentesis. They will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of Consultants, Registrars, Specialist Nurses, and Pharmacists, advocating for nutritional interventions in weekly hepatology team meetings and MDT clinics.
The post involves liaising with Specialist Dietitians at the Royal Free Hospital for liver transplant patients, and with Community Dietitians for discharged patients with enteral feeding tubes. Additionally, the Dietitian will provide weekly clinics for patients with metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease.
Applicants should be highly motivated, hardworking, and experienced in managing busy caseloads across inpatient and outpatient settings. Excellent communication skills are essential. Experience in data collection and business case writing is encouraged.
