Responsibilities
  • Design, code, test, correct and document large programmes and modifications from supplied specifications. Provide costs, timescales and resource estimates to effect change.
  • Collaborate with clients and users on the content and appearance of complex web pages; create and test pages with specified content and layout; develop web interfaces to new or existing applications.
  • Analyse data requirements to establish, modify or maintain object and data models; evaluate potential solutions and demonstrate, install and commission selected products.
  • Use application management software and tools to collect performance statistics to ensure targets are met; perform essential maintenance and identify and resolve problems.
  • Maintain knowledge of specialist technical areas and apply this to execute tasks and provide detailed advice regarding their application.
  • Apply specialist development skills to help defend the UK’s interests in a secure enterprise environment.
Qualifications and skills

Desirable and essential qualifications include:

  • Agile & ITIL Foundation level qualifications or relevant practical experience; Microsoft role-based certification (Associate) and related product certifications; ability to work in a secure enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge of database concepts, object and data modelling techniques and design principles; understanding of database architectures, software and facilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant programming languages; experience in a variety of ITIL3 environments is desirable.
Experience and attributes
  • Substantial experience in relevant roles within enterprise environments and secure settings.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills; strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Subject matter expertise in a key technology, tool or product is desirable.
