Overview

Senior SATCOM Systems Engineer – Company Overview: Join Telespazio UK, a pioneering leader in satellite communications and space technology. Job Summary: The successful candidate will undertake a variety of communications systems engineering tasks on advanced communications networks and related services. These networks may involve GEO, MEO, and LEO satellite constellations, 5G NTN networks, optical and quantum communications, and modern multi-purpose complex communications payloads.

Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Lead and manage technical projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams including satellite network operators, technology vendors, institutions, government agencies, and subcontractors.
• System Design: Design and layout communications systems, including network architecture and link budgets, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Requirements Management: Define, amend, and decompose requirements; apply model-based systems engineering (MBSE) for ground segment and/or communications payloads.
• System Analysis: Conduct system-level analysis, performance assessments, and studies to enhance communication capabilities; troubleshoot system issues (e.g., communications paths, capacityperformance, interference, latency, network devices) and perform data analysis and reporting.
• VV&T Strategies: Design, develop, and prepare validation, verification, and testing (VV&T) strategies and plans; specify environments, facilities, and equipment for testing complex satellite networks.

Qualifications

• Education: Honours or master's degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Space System Engineering, Electronics, Communications) or equivalent qualifications/experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in satellite communications, aerospace, or telecoms industries, with a background in electrical engineering, electronics, software engineering, telecommunications, or related field.
• Satcom Systems Engineering: Knowledge of system design, ground segment design, satellite operations, and payload engineering.
• RF Engineering: Understanding of RF engineering, waveform design, antenna design, propagation, link analysis, satellite network protocols, and air interfaces.
• Systems Engineering: Practical knowledge of systems engineering methodologies, requirements management, and proficiency in systems modelling/MBSE.
• Software Proficiency: Experience with modern development environments (e.g., Java, Python) and code management tools (e.g., Git, Gerrit); understanding of object-oriented programming techniques.
