Overview

Our client, a leading Tier 1 Contractor, is expanding its commercial team and seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing operation in Cambridgeshire. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a thriving and collaborative commercial team delivering major, flagship educational projects valued up to £65m-£70m.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the commercial management of large-scale educational build projects from pre-construction through to final account.
  • Prepare, manage, and evaluate subcontract tenders, contracts, and variations.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  • Manage procurement processes and supply chain relationships.
  • Provide accurate commercial reporting to senior leadership.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company standards.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support and mentor junior commercial staff as required.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
  • Background working on major build projects, ideally within the educational or public-sector space.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial processes, contracts (e.g., JCT), and cost management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team.
