About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior QA Engineer to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Sheffield.

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior QA Engineer to join a high-performing Business Banking Technology team within a leading financial services client. This is a critical role responsible for driving quality assurance across digital banking platforms and services, ensuring that all deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and compliance.

You will lead testing efforts, guide QA strategy, promote best practices, and collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver high-impact technology solutions that serve the needs of customers and regulatory bodies alike.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement scalable QA strategies that align with wider technology and business objectives
  • Lead the design, development, and execution of comprehensive test plans, including manual and automated test cases, across web and mobile platforms
  • Build and maintain automated testing frameworks and test scripts using tools such as Selenium, Appium, and JMeter
  • Work closely with product owners, developers, and business analysts to understand requirements, define testable acceptance criteria, and ensure full test coverage
  • Drive continuous improvements in QA processes, test environments, and tools to increase efficiency, coverage, and reliability
  • Support and mentor junior QA engineers, championing best practices and fostering a strong culture of quality within the team
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential points of failure or inefficiency early in the development lifecycle
  • Track and report on test metrics, quality KPIs, and defect trends to senior stakeholders, helping to inform strategic decisions
  • Ensure QA processes adhere to internal controls and relevant regulatory standards, and support external audits or assessments as needed
About You

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in software quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead QA role, ideally within financial services or other regulated environments
  • Deep understanding of QA methodologies, testing lifecycle, and best practices
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, and JMeter
  • Skilled in API testing using tools like Postman or RestAssured
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Java, Python, or C#
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Familiarity with microservices and containerised environments
  • Understanding of business banking products, platforms, and regulatory requirements is highly desirable
  • Strong background in Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in cross-functional squads
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
