Job Title: Senior Project Manager (Structured Cabling SME)

Location: Hybrid/London

Reports To: UK Director, Technology Infrastructure

Position Scope:

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the delivery and oversight of Whitespace projects across all Business Units within the UK DCS business, with particular focus on structured cabling. The role also supports and manages all client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and project leader to grow the business relationship and project offerings within Data Centre Solutions. Working closely with the in‑region Whitespace Director, you will have responsibility for all aspects of project delivery and will feed into the business development and marketing strategy associated with the Whitespace Projects Business.

The Senior Project Manager will ensure alignment between the account organisation and other departments within DCS to maximise value creation and ensure excellence in project delivery by providing direction and oversight to enable business unit and account teams to positively contribute and comprehensively manage the fulfilment of our commitment to the client.

The Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Business Development & Marketing
  • Report on all major DC developments in the region, ensuring the senior management team is fully informed of all potential opportunities in the market.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders in all major DCs in the region.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our existing client base.
  • Drive growth in the Projects Business by maintaining a strong pipeline for Whitespace projects.
  • Provide leadership in identifying and specifying project opportunities and in delivering contractual commitments on secured projects.
  • Deliver effective business communication and direct contribution to management team meetings, briefings, consultation forums, monthly and ad‑hoc reporting and other publications, as appropriate.
  • Support the sales process through solutions development, participation in presentations and consultation meetings.
  • Act as an expert in DCS business, culture and strategy by proactively contributing to the improvement of the DCS business.
  • Develop and manage all bids, tenders and proposals in conjunction with the Design team.
Management, Planning & Value Creation
  • Ensure projects are delivered to completion on time and on budget, exceeding expectations wherever possible.
  • Identify, reduce and manage all risks (technical, statutory, health and safety, commercial or otherwise) associated with each project.
  • Build individual relationships with industry manufacturers & distributors.
  • Ensure compliance with CBRE project management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure healthy and safe working conditions and that both client and Company health and safety policy and process is effectively implemented across both CBRE and sub‑contractor activities, with regular review on every project.
  • Include timely delivery of a Health and Safety file for the works and full compliance with local regulations.
  • Build strong relationships with sub‑contractors, particularly preferred suppliers, to ensure cost‑effective solutions that meet our quality expectations can be delivered to our clients while managing risk and ensuring back‑to‑back terms and conditions.
  • Establish and execute resource & people strategy.
  • Develop project financial plans for revenue and profit delivery.
  • Ensure positive cash flow through upfront agreement of a relevant payment schedule and timely invoicing.
  • Control debt to remain below 60 days.
  • Manage the delivery of projects within agreed budget, aiming to maximise profit through cost reductions and better buying of sub‑contractor services.
  • Ensure appropriate control systems for statutory, policy and contractual commitments.
  • Strategically interpret needs and identify new value‑added services.
  • Exploit opportunities for strategic development of projects to deliver increased turnover and profitability.
  • Work with other Operational managers to ensure collaborative development of the projects business with effective teamwork and support of colleagues.
  • Maintain a customer focus in all operational activities and maintain effective relationships with key client contacts and CBRE site teams/managers to identify and win project opportunities.
  • Promote and maintain the core values of CBRE.
Customer Relationship Management & Development
  • Demonstrate credibility and leadership, influencing project outcomes.
  • Manage DCS‑wide client relationships at project levels, acting as an advisor to the DCS Whitespace management team.
  • Create alignment between customer needs and project delivery.
  • Manage issue escalation and resolution.
Leadership
  • Provide direct support for account teams and may have direct reporting as well as matrix reporting responsibilities.
  • Manage in a diverse environment.

  • Provide direct technical support for the entire Project Team, including training and up‑skilling where required.
  • Assist financial performance of Whitespace Projects.
  • Responsible for delivery of the project, managing scope interpretation as required.

  • Ensure fulfilment of the "promise" to the customer – setting tone and culture for how DCS delivers.
  • Engage executive involvement as needed to leverage the broader DCS portfolio to introduce new scope & business pricing as part of delivering an integrated set of services.

  • Experience creating, presenting and managing bids, tenders and proposals.
  • Experience running a P&L.
Qualifications
  • Recognised technical qualification in ICT / structured cabling.
  • Business standard of written and verbal literacy as well as above‑average numeracy skills.
