Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised institution.
  • Degree in Process or Chemical Engineering (MEng or equivalent preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and technical authority within project teams.
  • Proven ability to take technical responsibility and sign off engineering deliverables.
  • Strong practical knowledge of industrial utilities.

The Role

As a Senior Process Design Engineer (Chartered), you will act as a technical authority delivering complex process and utilities engineering projects for global manufacturing clients. You will partner directly with clients from concept and feasibility through to detailed design, while providing technical leadership, governance, and sign‑off across engineering outputs.

This is a client‑facing role requiring strong process engineering expertise, leadership capability, and a passion for sustainability and decarbonisation in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead process and utilities engineering projects from feasibility through to detailed design.
  • Act as principal process engineer and technical partner for clients within manufacturing and industrial facilities.
  • Design, model and implement new and modified process and utility systems.
  • Provide technical expertise across heat recovery, heat pumps, chillers and wider utility technologies.
  • Support and check process design deliverables, including flowsheets, PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Deliver sustainability and decarbonisation projects using holistic analysis of existing processes.
  • Propose innovative technologies and value‑adding engineering solutions.
  • Perform equipment sizing and process calculations (e.g. PRVs, control valves, line sizing).
  • Review, approve and sign off engineering outputs from other engineers.
  • Mentor and develop engineers, driving continuous improvement and technical excellence.
  • Uphold operating excellence through compliance with BMS and internal engineering standards.
Experience & Skills
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised institution.
  • Degree in Process or Chemical Engineering (MEng or equivalent preferred).
  • Senior technical experience within manufacturing, utilities or engineering consultancy environments.
  • Strong practical knowledge of industrial utilities including:
    • Boilers and steam plants
    • Refrigeration and cooling systems
    • Compressed air systems
    • Water treatment systems
    • HVAC and process utilities
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and technical authority within project teams.
  • Proven ability to take technical responsibility and sign off engineering deliverables.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience sizing process and utility equipment.
  • High level of IT proficiency (Microsoft Office, Project, Visio) with strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Client‑focused communicator with strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills.
  • Proactive, accountable and delivery‑driven mindset, with a clear commitment to continuous professional development.
