Overview
We are looking for a Senior Policy Advisor for the Devolved Nations. This fixed term secondment post (six months, full time) will have responsibility for supporting and delivering policy and research across BMA Cymru Wales, BMA Scotland and BMA Northern Ireland, whilst also working closely with UK-wide policy teams. This unique role will work with senior staff and a variety of elected committee members on the objectives, goals, and strategies which underpin a wide range of BMA objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop robust policy briefings, research, consultation responses or guidance papers and support other policy and negotiation workstreams as required.
- Be adept at managing relationships and contribute to policy development in a health or health-related context.
- Support knowledge sharing across internal teams and work collaboratively to achieve objectives.
- Work with senior staff and elected committee members on objectives, goals, and strategies underpinning BMA priorities.
- Based in one of the three national offices (Cardiff, Edinburgh or Belfast) in a hybrid working arrangement and travel to other national offices as required.
Location and working arrangements
- Based in Cardiff, Edinburgh or Belfast with hybrid working (for example two days per week in the office and three days at home, subject to business needs).
- Some travel to other national offices is likely to be required.
Qualifications and attributes
- Experience of policy development in a health or health-related context.
- Excellent research and writing skills and sound judgement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Adequate ability and flexibility to work collaboratively and support knowledge sharing across internal teams.
- Ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
