A healthcare provider in Worcester seeks a Senior Physiotherapy Support Worker to support the therapy team. The role involves assisting physiotherapists, delivering treatments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Candidates must have experience and the right to work in the UK. This is a full-time position offering flexible working hours.
Senior Physiotherapy Support Worker required to join the therapy team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
The post requires a compassionate, reliable individual committed to delivering high standards of care and supporting effective rehabilitation within the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Previous experience as a therapy assistant or in a rehabilitation role is essential. Knowledge of exercise therapy and human anatomy is desirable.
Please note: the support workforce is under review through the Trust’s Management of Change process; the Job Description and Person Specification may be amended. The role may require both Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy knowledge and skills, with a training package and competencies provided.

The successful applicant will assist physiotherapists in delivering treatments across inpatient specialities. Duties include delivering treatments, exercise programmes and mobilising patients to support safe discharge. The role may involve unsupervised work and collaboration with qualified and unqualified staff, including Physiotherapy assistants, to assess, treat and progress simple treatments in line with competencies set and assessed by the Senior Physiotherapist. This will contribute to effective discharge planning as part of the MDT.
Provide clerical and administrative support to qualified staff and students, and undertake delegated housekeeping and stock control tasks.
Participate in the weekend service. Weekend work and speciality depend on experience, which may include treatment of children. Working hours may vary by service and may include 7-day working or weekend/bank holiday rotas.

Knowledge & Skills
Essential: effective written and verbal communication, broad therapy competencies, good patient handling, health and safety awareness, computer literacy, team working, flexibility, organisation. Desirable: understanding of professional, legal and clinical governance issues.

Essential: able to meet physical demands, able to work contracted hours over 7 days, able to contribute to weekend rotas, shows commitment.
Experience
Essential: proven experience as a Therapy Assistant with diverse client groups; experience using a wide range of skills; evidence of self-development.
Qualifications
Essential: functional maths and English at Level 2 or GCSE; three A Levels or Health and Science T Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification or Level 3 apprenticeship; alternative clinical experience underpinned by theory and practice in an AHP role. Desirable: relevant further education qualification (e.g., BTEC Therapy Support Worker) or NVQ 3 in Healthcare.
