Job description
Job Overview

Due to temporary internal changes, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Community Stroke and Neuro team as a Band 6 Physiotherapist on a fixed‑term basis (approximately one year, ending 28 March 2027). This community post will have you seeing patients in their own homes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a high standard physiotherapy service, undertaking all clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Perform advanced physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions; use advanced clinical reasoning to provide a diagnosis and develop an individualised treatment programme.
  • Manage your own caseload and a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision.
  • Supervise, educate and assess physiotherapy students, assistants and staff‑grade physiotherapists, and provide specialist advice to other health‑care professionals.
  • Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to the development of service protocols; make recommendations to the clinical lead/manager of the service for practice changes.
  • Support and supervise junior staff and students as part of an in‑service training program.
  • Undertake evidence‑based audit and research projects to further your own and the team’s clinical practice.
  • Assess and manage clinical risk within your own and delegated patient caseloads.
  • Participate in on‑call duties (please indicate you hold a full UK driving licence on application).
  • If you do not meet all elements of the Band 6 essential criteria, a developmental Band 5‑6 post may be offered, with close supervision to achieve Band 6 objectives.
Eligibility

Candidates must meet the Band 6 essential criteria as defined by the Trust. Where necessary, a developmental Band 5‑6 role may be offered following close supervision and objective‑based development.
