We deliver Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy and Clinical Substance Misuse in an integrated healthcare delivery model to support better outcomes. This position involves working in a prison setting to provide high quality primary care services and a range of specialist interventions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality clinical care within the Integrated Healthcare Service for the prison, including acute and primary care, long‑term conditions management, enhanced assessment and diagnostic intervention services and health promotion activities.
- Provide evidence-based nursing practice and robust expert clinical skills to drive quality and outcome‑driven care on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Lead and manage a complex caseload, support junior colleagues, coordinate the healthcare team, and provide clinical supervision to junior team members including band 5 nurses, healthcare assistants and students.
- Plan and deliver services in line with NHS Plan, public health indicators and National Service Frameworks; implement patient‑centred care planning tools and long‑term condition registers across prisons within the service.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Lead, GPs and other clinicians to review service needs; deputise for the Team Manager as required.
- Promote equality, respect for dignity, and a safe working environment; adhere to health and safety policies and prison standards.
- Engage in professional development, supervision programmes and annual appraisals to ensure ongoing learning and competency development.
Qualifications and Experience
- Current registration as a Senior Registered Nurse and eligible to practice in the UK.
- Experience delivering primary care and specialist interventions in a prison or similar setting is preferred.
- Strong clinical governance, evidence‑based practice, and ability to work autonomously with complex caseloads.
- Ability to work effectively in a challenging environment and to deputise for leadership when required.
