Role- Senior Mechanical Engineer

Salary per annum (dependent on experience)

Type- Permanent

Location- Borehamwood Hertfordshire

My client is a specialist manufacturer. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a varied skillset to join their team in Borehamwood on a permanent basis.

Required Attributes

• 2 years or more experience in a similar Mechanical Engineering Design or Applications Engineering position
• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Knowledge of a variety of materials sheet metal machined parts etc.
• Confident speaking to customers and managing projects
• Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks Inventor Creo etc.
• Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
• The ability to understand system requirements
• Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
• Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Responsibilities

• Working on project specifications creating CAD drawings and preparing cost estimates working off customer requirements
• Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
• Writing quotes and other technical details
• Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
• Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
• Checking drawings for sign off
• Speaking to customers over the phone and delivering proposals
• Helping to define project schedules
• Have a good appreciation for using hand tools and basic fabrication methods
• Working closely with other members of the engineering team
