Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of new product developments in the aerospace sector. The successful candidate will utilize 3D CAD and simulation tools, ensuring high-quality technical output. With a minimum of 5 years of experience in an aerospace or defence environment and a relevant degree, you'll oversee projects from concept through to delivery. SC Clearance is essential for this position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
  • Min 5 years in aerospace or defence environment with knowledge of aerospace standards.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
  • Requirements management experience required.
  • Experience of developing mechanical design solutions through entire lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed designs using 3D CAD and simulate mechanical behaviour with FEA and CFD.
  • Undertake tolerance analysis of designs including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
  • Generate and amend drawings and documentation to appropriate standards including BS8888.
  • Produce documentation to support development of aerospace products.
  • Act as Lead Engineer on projects and bids when required.
  • Continuous improvement of processes and tools.
