We are supporting a well‑established water company in their search for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, who will join their dynamic engineering team, on a permanent basis. This is an incredible opportunity to be a part of the development of detailed designs, drawings, documents, and specifications for various Water, Energy, and Resources projects, across the UK. This position offers a hybrid working pattern, with the occasional attendance to one of our client's offices nationwide.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the design and delivery of intricate mechanical system designs, across various water projects, ensuring adherence to client requirements and expectations.
  • Collate and assemble mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and documentation, ensuring accuracy, and compliance to industry and quality standards.
  • Liaise with project professionals, across a range of disciplines, allowing for alignment and transparency with design intent, and the identification and resolution of issues.
  • Conduct site visits, risk management tests, audits, reviews, and surveys, ensuring outputs adhere to project plans, whilst also offering ongoing technical insight.
  • Offer continuous support and guidance throughout installation, commissioning, and procurement processes, allowing for safe and efficient system functionality.
  • Guide junior engineers, contributing to business development and innovation.
  • Nurture professional development within junior engineers by providing ongoing mentorship, support, and guidance, ensuring best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, with a Chartered Engineer status (IMechE or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience producing detailed mechanical system works for various water and energy projects, with an understanding of equipment selection and application.
  • Significant proficiency in the use of key industry software tools, including BIM, Plant 3D and AutoPIPE, for design work production.
  • Proficient ability within delivering high quality works for utility infrastructure is ideal.
  • Sound acknowledgment of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, with an understanding of piping design standards and safety principles.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills, with a drive for innovation and business development, and a willingness to travel to sites when required.
