Job description

We are looking for an experienced Linux System Administrator / SysOps engineer to join the IT team of our customer, a cloud computing company. In this role, you will work closely with software developers and core teams to design, scale, and maintain the production infrastructure. You will be responsible for the company’s most critical infrastructure and development clusters, working with the latest storage, hardware, virtualization, and cloud technologies to ensure smooth and reliable operations.

Our customer is a well-known B2B cloud computing provider that helps leading software and cybersecurity companies deliver advanced, immersive environments for demos, POCs, development, testing, and customer training. With powerful automation, intuitive self-service, and full visibility and control, the platform enables enterprises to easily leverage the cloud and accelerate their business.

Key responsibilities
  • Resolve complex UNIX/Linux issues across production, colocation, laboratory, and customer environments.
  • Deploy and scale production systems efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Implement security measures to harden operating systems against potential threats.
  • Contribute to the design of network and systems infrastructure.
  • Develop innovative solutions for complex technological challenges.
  • Identify potential disaster scenarios, and plan and test recovery procedures.
  • Install, configure, and manage network devices including routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, IPS, VPN gateways, console servers, and other network equipment.
  • Assist in managing virtualization environments and storage systems.
  • Explore and evaluate new tools and technologies, such as Docker, Ansible, and others, to improve system management.
  • Collaborate with onshore and offshore technical teams to promptly detect, diagnose, and resolve issues within the client’s network infrastructure; manage escalation procedures around the clock.
  • Provide guidance and support during operational events, whether announced or unplanned.
  • Investigate, analyze, and troubleshoot emergencies within customer environments; develop and execute resolution plans while minimizing risk and operational disruption, and identify root causes.
Requirements
  • Over 5 years of experience in UNIX/Linux system administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols.
  • Experience in network administration and design, including Cisco devices, Linux firewalls, and routing.
  • Virtualization expertise, particularly with VMware.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, and others.
  • Experience managing 24/7 high-availability IT infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and services, such as Nagios/Icinga and PagerDuty.
  • Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
