SENIOR LEGAL ADVISOR- IN-HOUSE ROLE- 5 YEARS PQE+

Are you an experienced Solicitor ready to take on a pivotal advisory role in a dynamic and high-impact public body? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Advisor to join a leading independent regulator in Northern Ireland.

This role is crucial to supporting a wide statutory remit across the electricity, gas, and water sectors. You'll work at the heart of decision-making, providing expert legal advice that shapes policy, ensures compliance, and promotes the public interest.

The Role:

As a Senior Legal Advisor, you will provide high-quality, clear, and timely legal advice across a diverse range of issues, including:

  • Resolution of disputes and regulatory complaints

  • Enforcement actions for suspected breaches of licences or legal obligations

  • Support on corporate governance and administrative law matters

  • Provide sound legal advice aligned with strategic and regulatory priorities

  • Support decision-making on legal, regulatory, and compliance matters

  • Draft legal documents, including licences and enforcement communications

  • Proactively identify legal risks and recommend practical solutions

  • Manage your own caseload while contributing to cross-functional legal projectsThe Person:

  • A qualified solicitor or barrister eligible to practise in Northern Ireland- 5 years PQE+

  • Proven post-qualification experience (preferably in regulatory, public, or energy law)

  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and pragmatic advice

  • Experience working on complex legal issues in a public or regulatory context

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure
