Senior Learning Support Assistant

College location: East Surrey College (Redhill)

Salary: £24,666 or £25,311 (Pro‑rated) - 38 and 39 weeks respectively

Hours: Full time - Monday to Friday (8.45am – 5.00pm) Term Time Only (38 or 39 Weeks a year)

We are currently seeking to appoint a number of Senior Learning Support Assistants (SLSA) to assist and support our Curriculum staff in a number of different departments across the College. The purpose of this role is to help and support students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to participate fully in their college experience and achieve their learning goals.

Under the leadership and management of the ALS Manager and ALS Coordinator, the SLSA will support and guide other Learning Support Assistants within the learning support team to meet the key accountabilities of the LSA role.

Working closely with teaching staff, you will assist designated students, in either groups or on an individual basis, in accordance with their learning / learning support plans.

The successful candidate must:
  • Be qualified to at least level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Experience of working in classes supporting students with learning needs at a school or college
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience of working with children/adults with special learning needs
  • Have competent IT Skills and the ability to use Word, Excel and Outlook

Ideally candidates will hold a qualification in providing learning support or will be willing to obtain this qualification. Please note Orbital South Colleges will consider candidate who are looking for job share.
