As the Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate and Investment Bank Payments Technology team, you will leverage your expertise and engineering leadership to contribute to an agile team dedicated to developing, enhancing, and delivering trusted, market‑leading technology solutions in a secure, reliable, and scalable manner. You will utilize your advanced technical skills and collaborate across the organization to achieve outstanding results across multiple technologies that support the firm’s portfolios. In this Senior Lead Engineer/Architect role, you will oversee the design and development of distributed systems, ensuring they are resilient, efficient, and scalable across both public and private cloud platforms. Your technical leadership will be crucial in implementing top‑tier API management platform solutions and guiding the team toward integration and performance excellence.

Job Responsibilities
  • Designs and develops complex, scalable coding frameworks using modern software design principles
  • Writes secure, high‑quality production code and reviews/debugs code from other team members
  • Provides guidance to cross‑functional teams on technology topics within your area of expertise
  • Acts as the primary subject matter expert for the function
  • Contributes to the advancement of technical methods in specialized areas, aligned with current product development practices
  • Builds durable, reusable software frameworks for use across teams and functions
  • Promotes the firm’s values of diversity, inclusion, opportunity, and respect
  • Leads the architectural design and deployment of distributed systems in public and private cloud environments, ensuring alignment with company objectives and industry standards
  • Sets strategic direction and oversees the creation, maintenance, and integration of API management platform solutions to improve system interoperability and performance
  • Mentors and develops junior architects and engineers, fostering innovation and continuous improvement within the team
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 7+ years of hands‑on experience
  • Practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability
  • Expertise in one or more programming languages
  • Advanced understanding of software development and technical processes, with deep knowledge in one or more technical areas (e.g., cloud, AI, machine learning, mobile)
  • Experience applying advanced methods to solve complex technology challenges in one or more technical domains
  • Strong communication skills for presenting to Senior Leaders and Executives
  • Solid business acumen
  • Hands‑on cloud native experience
  • Background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
  • Professional experience with Apigee, MuleSoft, or Kong platforms, and deploying/managing applications in public cloud environments
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing distributed systems architecture in both public and private cloud settings
  • Experience with microservices architecture and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Strong grasp of API security best practices and experience with OAuth, JWT, and other authentication/authorization protocols
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and automated testing frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor junior engineers, encouraging collaboration and innovation
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and strategic thinking about technology’s impact on business outcomes
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification, showing expertise in designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault‑tolerant systems on AWS
