A major public transport authority in London is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support Storage Technology projects. This role involves managing the migration and installation of Storage hardware and maintaining service levels. Overview

Job title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Storage Technology) - TP&O Networks and Hosting

Salary: £68-73k - TFL Band 3

Location: Pier Walk, North Greenwich

Contract Type: FTC - 2 years

Overview of project/role

The role is required to support an existing team of Storage Engineers for:

  • Delivery of a current in-flight project activities for a full refresh of our on-prem Storage Environment, including migration from existing to new refreshed hardware.
  • Installation and configuration of new Storage hardware.
  • Relocation of existing Storage hardware.
  • Maintain service levels on current Storage Technology.
Deliverables
  1. Support the refresh of the Storage platform to the new environment.
  2. Storage technical services are delivered and maintained using approved processes and tools.
  3. Using monitoring and reporting tools, rectify any operations that are running outside of their normal state. Ensure all hardware, software and service configuration elements are recorded correctly.
  4. Delivered activities are fully compliant and updated with all TfL processes in respect of the ITIL framework and functions and security practices within the scope of the supported estate.
  5. Contribute to the design of and plan technical changes; deliver and test infrastructure technologies.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge of technical techniques in the following: IT Infrastructure Technologies, System Security, Acceptance Testing - including operational, user, functionality and others as required.
  • The relevant national and international legislation pertaining to the Government/Public Sector IT - e.g. Data Protection Act, EU Procurement Directives and Freedom of Information Act.
Experience (Essential)
  • Has worked within the industry in a role reporting to Manager level and working with Business Managers to enable business benefit through service delivery.
  • Experience of implementing, upgrading, migrating, maintaining and decommissioning Storage technologies in enterprise environments.
  • Experience of providing Storage technologies support out of hours.
  • Extensive knowledge of Enterprise Storage technologies and its implementation in complex enterprise sized environments.
