Job description

This is a senior, hands-on cloud infrastructure role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and shaping scalable, resilient cloud services. If you enjoy combining deep technical expertise with customer interaction, this Senior Infrastructure Engineer role delivers end-to-end ownership across cloud design, delivery and support!

Location
Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Designing, administering, managing and providing third-line support for cloud infrastructure platforms.
  • Supporting virtualisation and orchestration technologies across platforms such as VMware, Nutanix AHV, HPE VME, KVM-based environments and Azure-based solutions.
  • Managing Linux, Windows, SQL and supporting operating system technologies.
  • Designing and supporting SDN, virtual and physical networking, including enterprise networking and firewall platforms.
  • Acting as the technical lead for root cause analysis and resolution of complex infrastructure issues.
  • Providing consultancy support on infrastructure technologies, including cloud service onboarding and migrations.
  • Raising, managing and escalating third-party support cases as required.
  • Contributing to continuous service improvement initiatives and technical innovation.
  • Mentoring and supporting other engineers within specialist technology areas.
  • Producing technical documentation, procedures and service documentation.
  • Managing workload and priorities to balance business-as-usual support with project delivery.
  • Supporting commercial activity through technical input into proposals and statements of work.
  • Presenting cloud technologies, solutions and strategy to customers and stakeholders.
  • Liaising with customers on infrastructure design, networking, migration and backup or disaster recovery strategies.
  • Supporting capacity planning, performance analysis and lifecycle management of cloud platforms.
  • Working closely with security specialists to ensure appropriate controls and secure infrastructure design.
  • Participating in an out-of-hours on-call rota to support cloud services.
Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a senior infrastructure engineering or systems administration role, with strong expertise across enterprise or service-provider environments. They will possess in-depth knowledge of virtualisation platforms, storage, networking and security-centric infrastructure design, alongside experience with backup, replication and disaster recovery technologies. Strong customer-facing skills are essential, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and confidently. The successful candidate will be proactive, well organised and capable of working independently to resolve issues, ideally holding relevant professional certifications across infrastructure, virtualisation or networking disciplines. Experience within regulated or multi-tenant environments would be advantageous.
