Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Technician for Nottingham City Council's Strategic Finance team. Overview

Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Senior Finance Technician to join Nottingham City Council's Strategic Finance team on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong analytical skills and local government finance knowledge to provide high-quality financial support across a large and complex organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Support managers and business partners with accurate financial analysis and advice to inform decision-making
  • Assist with the completion of statutory and non-statutory returns, including grant claims
  • Provide monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting to support robust budget management
  • Identify risks, corrective actions, and opportunities for service improvements
  • Contribute to the development of business plans and ensure compliance with governance, risk management, and financial reporting standards
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and partner organisations
Requirements
  • Qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or equivalent
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and IT skills with the ability to produce clear financial information
  • Experience in financial analysis, option appraisal, and supporting budget holders
  • Knowledge of local government finance principles and practices
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and meet tight deadlines

Location - Loxley House, Nottingham (Hybrid 1-2 days on site).
