Senior Façade Designer

A well-established specialist in architectural glazing and aluminium façade solutions is seeking a talented Senior Façade Designer to join its expanding technical team. This role suits a detail-driven professional with strong experience in façade design, curtain walling, and coordination on complex building envelope projects.

As a Senior Façade Designer, you will be responsible for leading design packages from initial concept through to full fabrication and installation drawings. You will work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to deliver fully coordinated, compliant, and buildable façade solutions across a variety of commercial and residential developments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and detailing of aluminium curtain walling, windows, doors, rooflights, and cladding interfaces.
• Produce high-quality AutoCAD drawings, fabrication details, schedules, and installation documentation.
• Develop technical details addressing structural performance, thermal criteria, drainage, airtightness, and weatherproofing.
• Prepare technical submissions and manage drawing approvals with design teams and contractors.
• Work collaboratively to resolve interface challenges, design inconsistencies, and site-based queries.
• Act as a senior point of technical knowledge for internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Ensure all drawings comply with current BS/EN standards, building regulations, and system supplier requirements.
• Support value-engineering exercises and contribute to improvements in design processes and standards.

Skills & Experience Required

• Significant experience in façade, glazing, or building envelope design.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; 3D modelling/visualisation skills beneficial.
• Proven experience with aluminium systems including stick curtain walling, windows, and doors.
• Solid understanding of building envelope principles: structural behaviour, fixings, tolerances, thermal performance, and water management.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings and convert them into fully buildable solutions.
• Strong communicator with the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
• Highly organised, able to manage workload across several projects simultaneously.
• Detail-focused problem solver with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
