By joining us, you will work daily with technical experts within our established Environmental Impact (EIA) team, comprising over 165 staff across the UK and Ireland. As we are a national team, we are flexible in terms of office location, including offices in Basingstoke, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, London Aldgate, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, St Albans, Warrington, and our flexible hybrid working model. This position offers an opportunity to be involved in large-scale development projects that are transforming our infrastructure, including:

  • Energy generation projects, including carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, and renewables (such as large-scale solar and floating offshore wind)
  • Energy distribution and transmission projects (including projects forming part of the Great Grid Upgrade)
  • Carbon capture pipelines
  • Strategic national and regional rail projects
  • Highway improvements and greenway projects
  • Regeneration projects, including port side developments
  • Developments within ecommerce, minerals and waste, water, defence, aviation, commercial/residential, and industrial sectors
Responsibilities:
  1. Provide Expertise: Coordinate environmental inputs to EIA screening and scoping reports, environmental assessments/Environmental Statements, and supporting documents. Involved across all project stages, from early strategy development to scheme operation and maintenance. Work across multiple consenting regimes (DCO, TCPA, TWA, hybrid Bill, etc.).
  2. Ensure Quality: Maintain high standards in deliverables with a keen eye for detail.
  3. Project Management: Develop project management skills by coordinating resources and budgets with support as needed.
  4. Collaborate: Work with integrated design teams to improve environmental outcomes, identify constraints, and develop impact mitigation and benefit opportunities.
  5. Client Contact: Engage directly with clients and internal teams.
  6. Growth: Promote AECOM's environmental services, support business development, and contribute to proposals.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in a relevant environmental discipline (preferably a Masters) and professional membership.
  • Experience in EIA consultancy, including report preparation and technical review.
  • Understanding of consenting regimes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within teams.
  • Developing project management skills.
  • Commitment to innovation and professional development.
  • Experience with DCO and/or TWAO regimes is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills, including report writing and stakeholder engagement.
