Overview

Westlakes are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic team based in Warrington.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key role in delivering complex engineering projects within a regulated environment. We are considering candidates on both a permanent and contract basis.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team to identify feasibility, develop outline requirement specifications, determine TRL levels and development plans to deliver a viable solution, and prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraise and select phase of the project. Deliver to the agreed time, cost and quality.
  • Lead the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and the production of the agreed design deliverables.
  • Manage the JV teams in production of deliverables.
  • Develop the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, and production of substantiation documentation.
  • Identify additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Interface with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s) and engage with Site clients and stakeholders.
Essential Experience
  • Background in engineering, demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent leadership roles guiding technical personnel.
  • Significant experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical knowledge.
  • Recent experience working within a regulated and quality-assured system (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgment is key.
  • Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations, and standards for the nuclear industry (equivalent experience in other industries will be considered): Health & Safety at Work Act; Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015; Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation.
  • Identification of Technological Readiness Levels and development of technology development plans.
