Control Risks has an established Crisis Management team in London, which focusses on Crisis Management Consulting, Training and Exercising for the EMEA region. The purpose of the role is to further capitalise on opportunities in the market, to drive existing business, and to develop new business in line with the regional CM strategy. Objectives are:
Responsibilities
- To help Control Risks' clients mitigate the likelihood of kidnapping incidents or other extortive crimes occurring and, in the event of an incident, to help preserve life and reputation by developing and delivering training and planning support for clients in EMEA and further afield as required. This will include incident management training (kidnap; piracy), threat management consulting, communicator, family liaison, prevention and hostage survival training, and kidnap-specific crisis management planning
- Supporting business development, proposal writing and planning of both bespoke and open enrolment training within the practice, in alignment with the Director CSC.
- To own and manage the delivery portfolio, to be a key factor in the delivery itself, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and a client‑centric approach
- Proactively to support business development efforts by liaising with Global Markets & Partnership Services and other offices and departments as necessary; meeting with clients, scoping tasks and writing proposals
- Together with the management team develop new Crisis Management Consulting propositions that are complementary to the current offering, and in line with the regional CM strategy, to further drive efficiency, profit margins, and leveraged ways of working whilst also identifying opportunities to innovate and utilise technology to create efficiency and optimise delivery engagement.
- On an occasional basis – as required – to support the Response division (assuming completion of further selection process and relevant internal Crisis Response training) by providing professional consultancy support to clients with acute crisis management needs., To develop and deliver CM consulting tasks, such as threat management, and work with his/her team in the wider CM team (planning, training and crisis response) as required, as well as other security risk consulting tasks in conjunction with, or as directed by, the Partner for Crisis and Risk Consulting (CRC).
- Develop crisis management strategies, frameworks, and plans for clients
- Develop, test, and review crisis management plans and capabilities
- Support the development of innovative products and services that address client need, and that help position the Company at the forefront of the sector.
Business Development
- Support delivery of competitive business strategies to expand the Company's standing with its clients.
- Consistently develop the company's positioning with its clients to enhance business development and secure higher fee‑earning engagements.
- Pro‑actively seek opportunities to develop projects and business.
- Increase business generated from clients across the region.
Task Delivery
- Delivery of tasks for clients on time, on budget, to the highest standards.
- The role will involve travel to client sites and Control Risks offices across the region.
- The incumbent may also be required to undertake crisis management related activities and wider crisis and security consulting tasks as directed.
Practice Development
- Develop and mentor junior staff, maximise utilisation of resources.
- Support performance management and provide specialist training in order to develop practice team.
- Act as regional SME for kidnap for ransom and crisis management. Significant, relevant and recent experience working on crisis and security related topics.
Qualifications
- Strong inter‑personal skills with an ability to listen, learn and demonstrate initiative.
- Proven track record of building client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor during engagements.
- Team player, willing and able to progress in a constantly changing environment.
- Degree‑level security qualification or equivalent and/or a relevant background and experience of managing crises in either a military, police or corporate context.
- Understanding of key principles of crisis management within a corporate environment.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Media Management Skills.
- Knowledge of international security issues and in particular awareness of Kidnap & Ransom trends.
- Previous operational experience in either an international K&R environment or in handling other threat or extortion‑related scenarios.
- Strong IT skills.
