A leading construction firm in the UK is seeking a Senior Construction Manager to lead projects across the Midlands. The successful candidate will manage a team, ensure project delivery to high standards, and promote a culture of safety and excellence. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in the water industry and relevant qualifications. This role offers opportunities for personal growth and professional development.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Construction Manager to join our Senior Management Team at Galliford Try. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations/Delivery, you will take the lead in developing and managing a team of Construction Managers, ensuring the successful delivery of key frameworks across the Midlands.
This is a pivotal role that spans both pre-construction and on-site delivery, where you'll be instrumental in driving performance, safety, and quality across Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines. You'll provide clear direction, build collaborative relationships, and create an environment where excellence and accountability thrive.
As Senior Construction Manager, you will lead by example-setting strategic objectives, mentoring your team, and fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. You'll collaborate closely with Operations, Health & Safety, and Pre-Construction teams to ensure all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Your responsibilities will include overseeing resource planning, developing construction strategies, managing risk, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements.
You will play a key role in shaping the construction approach across our frameworks, providing expert advice to the Senior Leadership Team and supporting pre-construction and tendering with buildability insights and programme efficiencies. A commitment to operational excellence is essential—you will monitor project performance, drive improvement initiatives, and ensure our people and processes consistently deliver on time, on budget, and to specification.
Beyond delivery, you will act as a mentor and coach, identifying and nurturing talent within your team. You'll empower others to innovate, challenge with confidence, and take ownership of outcomes, helping to build a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance.
You will be an experienced and driven construction professional, ideally with a strong background in the water industry and a solid understanding of Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering disciplines. With an industry-recognised qualification and SMSTS accreditation, you bring both technical expertise and leadership capability.
Organised, structured, and professional, you take pride in delivering excellence while maintaining flexibility and resilience under pressure. Your communication and interpersonal skills allow you to build strong relationships at every level, from site teams to senior stakeholders, and you're confident presenting to varied audiences.
A self-starter with strong commercial awareness, you demonstrate sound decision-making, effective risk management, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You lead by example in promoting health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, embracing a zero-defects ethos and driving continuous improvement throughout the business.
If you're passionate about leading teams, delivering complex projects, and shaping the future of sustainable infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.
